Since its foundation in 2002 the Centre has played a pioneering role in establishing the importance of biblical reception, challenging traditional disciplinary boundaries. It aims to foster exchange between scholars working on biblical texts across the Humanities, creating a research network which focuses on exploring the use and influence of the Bible. The Centre organises a regular seminar series (‘The Bible in Art, Music and Literature’) during University term time, runs conferences, and produces and promotes publications that examine the reception history of the Bible.   News Visual Communion: A series of symposia on the art, architecture and craft of the Eucharist Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 10:30 to 16:30 ‘Altars: Texture and Tradition’: 18 May 2019, Winchester Cathedral 10.30-4.30 Idols and Taboos: Modern & Contemporary Art and Theology Today Thursday, May 23, 2019 - 18:00 to 19:30 Professor James Elkins (SAIC) and Professor Thomas Crow (NYU) School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ballroom Events There are no upcoming events currently scheduled.
